Caribana is Toronto’s Annual Caribbean Festival. The festival occurred on Saturday, August 5^th 2017 at Lakeshore Boulevard from 10am-6pm and it is celebrated with thousands of masqueraders vibrantly exuding the spirit of Caribana in extravagant costumes. The weekend launched this year from Thursday, August 2^nd-Monday, August 6^th 2017. Caribana is also a celebration of life and pride in culture and tradition. Thousands of people attend Caribana with featured live music, Caribbean food, pineapple slushies, unique art and theatrical performances.

This year was my first Caribana experience and as a first time trip it is definitely a recommended trip. The city of Toronto offers a lot of picturesque, artful, backgrounds, a variety of food options including favorites such as poutine and shawarma, and sight seeing opportunities such as China Town and the CN Tower. It is also easy to get around through the subway system and coupled with Caribana events there is a lot to explore and enjoy!
